Pursuing Exploration for Transformation

From a young age, I was captivated by stories of adventure—Ernest Shackleton exploring the Antarctic, T.E. Lawrence crossing Arabia, and Percy Faucett searching for lost civilization in the Amazon. Inspired by these great men before me, I seek to capture the same essence of courage, mystery, and discovery in my own life and work. In everything I do, I aspire to embody adventure, creativity, and service.

By day, I work in product development with HCA Healthcare’s Accelerated Technologies team, helping build data science, machine learning, and AI applications that advance patient care and serve clinicians in the field.

By night, I’m working toward my passion: using exploration to tranform others and reveal their potential. I’m building a non-profit that trains explorers, sends them on global expeditions, and studies how exposure to challenging experiences impacts their human development and resilience. I also run a digital agency that helps adventurous brands discover their niche through photography, video, branding, and web development services.

The throughline of my work is a dedication to living out adventure, creativity and service—to discover something new, create meaningful experiences, and lift others up.

My Purpose

I’m on a mission to
use exploration to move people
toward their fullest potential.

Inspired by explorers of the past, I seek to use the spirit of adventure to help people challenge themselves and understand their place in the world.

“To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”

My Work

My Story

I spent much of my formative years exploring the mountains of Tennessee with a backpack on my back and a camera in my hand. Photography opened the door to exploration for me, at first as a hobby and later for work—shooting for international NGOs and brands like RedBull.

I went on to study international economics at Belmont University and embarked on a series of journeys that shaped my life and worldview—Kenya, India, Israel, and Chile. After graduating, I went on my first solo expedition across the Himalayas, where I studied the impact of mountaineering on the people and economy of Nepal, generously sponsored by the Lumos Foundation. These experiences opened up my eyes to the transformative impact of navigating unfamiliar terrain, physically challenging environments, and foreign cultures—solidifying my love for exploration and desire for service.

In pursuit of service, I joined the US Navy to become a Naval Aviator, graduating officer school in the top quarter of my class, eager to fulfill a lifelong dream. However, just before flight school, I was medically disqualified from flying due to a migraine headache on my record six years before joining. As a result, I completed my service in the Public Affairs Office and left the Navy early, with the intent to pursue a life of service and adventure elsewhere. My experience in the Navy was pivotal in my life and reinforced my commitment to a mission-mindset, resilience, and brotherhood.

Upon coming home, I leaned into my creative skillset by building a small digital studio, beginning with photography and growing into video, web development, and digital strategy. I then joined Hart & Vine, an agency in Nashville, where I worked in product management and digital strategy with clients across industries. Looking for a return to service, I transitioned to healthcare, joining HCA Healthcare’s Accelerated Technologies department to work alongside product teams in the Digital Transformation & Innovation group, helping them build and scale AI and machine learning products in the field at hospitals across the country.

Now, I’m returning to my roots and pursuing my most ambitious venture yet—bringing my passion for exploration to life through a non-profit called Expeditionary Society. I believe that exploration is one of the most powerful forces for human development—and I intend to prove it. Expeditionary trains modern explorers, sends them on field expeditions around the world, and uses data to measure how exposure to unknown and challenging environments transforms them physiscally, mentally, and emotionally—all to understand what it takes to build a resilient person. Our discoveries will be shared through compelling storytelling and used to help others understand how they can reach their fullest potential through exploration.

We were made
to explore

Exploration is fundamental
to the human story

Life is meant to be a wild adventure. Mountains exist to be summited, rivers to be swam, oceans to be sailed, and deserts to be crossed. Feet were made to walk, hands to climb, and eyes to see the world. These things forge our character, connect us with each other, and reveal our truest self. We must feel, see, experience, and create to our fullest. To do anything else in life is a distraction, and perhaps even a tragedy. Some call this the fear of missing out, but—in reality—it is the risk of never fully living.
